PAWS Campaign for Linda McCormack: Thanks to all who gave!

A celebration of life nearly seven years in the making.

In December 2024, CWM met our goal to raise $100,000 for PAWS (the Progressive Animal Welfare Society) in memory of beloved friend and colleague Linda McCormack – a lifelong animal lover who lost her battle with cancer in February 2018. Linda was a longtime supporter of PAWS, fostering lost and injured animals and participating in the annual PAWSwalk.

Throughout the campaign, a grand total of 131 unique donors from the CWM community contributed 321 total gifts to achieve our ambitious goal – and together, we crossed the finish line at our Great Gingerbread Build, where representatives accepted the gift on behalf of PAWS. We could not be more grateful for every single act of support.

“Linda genuinely cared for almost every being she interreacted with,” said Shilo Lockett, CWM’s President, who worked shoulder to shoulder with Linda approximately 14 years. “She made people feel seen and cared for. This campaign has been not only a tribute to her and her heart for others, but also a testament to what can be accomplished when we collectively set a goal and assign manageable, incremental steps to achieve it. I think Linda would be so touched by the way people have shown up to honor her.”

PAWS recently opened a new Wildlife Rehabilitation Center in Snohomish County, relocating their wildlife rescue operations and freeing up space and resources at the Lynnwood campus, which serves primarily as an adoption center. The organization has already dedicated a beautiful bench at the Wildlife Rehabilitation Center to Linda, with views of the valley and the welcome plaza where every animal entering the center begins their journey of healing.

“What the CWM team has achieved is so remarkable and inspiring, and it’s a great example of what is possible when a group of kind and committed people come together with a shared goal,” said Andi Anderson, Director of Philanthropy and Events at PAWS. “With the new Wildlife Rehabilitation Center complete, our organization is undergoing a strategic planning process to envision the future of the Lynnwood campus and companion animal spaces. We look forward to sharing more about the plans for these facilities and how we’ll honor Linda in these spaces. We have so much gratitude for the CWM community for their generosity and commitment to animal welfare!"

We can’t imagine a more meaningful tribute to Linda than to help provide a safe, comfortable environment for animals to put their best paws forward when meeting their forever families.
